1979 Husqvarna 250 WR
Today’s showcase bike is a 1979 Husqvarna 250 WR and was submitted by August Mozart of Palo Alto, CA.
I grew up on a Husqvarna, my first bike was a 1976 250 WR that my dad got me as a christmas present, of which I was blown away. For years I used that bike and then graduated to a Husky 420 AXE which was fantastic, but a little tall and to fast for my taste. I rode it for a while, sold it just a few years ago and regretted doing so. Anyway, in 1979 my dad purchased a new Husqvarna 250 WR just like the one I have now. When he got it, that was the bike I wanted. I even begged him to sell it to me way back then but he wouldn’t budge.
Now to fast forward, I recently came across this bike that was sitting in a garage in Santa Barbara, CA. After contacting the owner and looking at some detailed photo’s, I could tell this was an extremely clean and low mile example of the bike my dad had, and that I wanted. Came to be, this bike was owned by a movie director in Hollywood who only used it a handful of times. It has 900 miles on it. I had to have it as I was looking for a Husky to take to Tahoe this summer to use and keep up there.
Everything on the bike is totally stock and untouched, the seat, tank, frame, paint, etc. It does need some things, however. The rear shocks leak a little, and the fork seals. The rear tail light is cracked, needs some light painting, and the rubber strap for the gas tank. Overall, a really neat bike. I’m going to research to see who actually owned the bike, who knows… maybe it’s my Dad’s old bike!

1979 Husqvarna 250 ISDT
Below is another great example of a classic 1979 Husqvarna 250 ISDT. This one belongs to Stewart Kelly. Stewart is a man of few words, but his passion shows in his Husky!
My Husky I’ve been doing up, now ready. It’s got the later side panels on for now and a later front light.

I had one of these for years and raced it many times in enduros in Australia. It was a fantastic bike, handled great when set up well, reliable and robust. I wish I hadnt ever sold it but needed the room in the shed at the time.
Thanks Dan, glad you enjoyed it!
