1971 Yamaha DT1 360 Custom
Today we’re looking at something more out of the ordinary vintage mx’er! This bike is a custom 1971 Yamaha DT1 360 submitted to us from our new friend Gary Bashor of Longview, Washington. Gary has poured his talents and heart into this bike, and it shows. That is a killer paint job, nice job Gary!
The bike originally started out as a really clapped-out MX bike with an RT 360 motor in a DT1 frame. I completely cleaned, rebuilt and re-engineered most everything to end up with what I call my SunTanker Gravel Tracker. The paint was my first attempt at custom bike painting, using water-base colors. The bike has Akront shouldered aluminum rims, RedWing Hammerheads, updated electrics (stock ignition), Trailtech Guages, modified fenders, and probably a lot more I am forgetting. There is a full build thread on my forum here.
